About CPL

A contract development and manufacturing organization

Founded in 1991, CPL started with just a few employees in one facility with a handful of clients and a clear goal: To be the very best CDMO in the non-sterile liquid and semi-solid contract manufacturing market. Today, we have 325 employees and a corporate park with two modern facilities that house our analytical labs, manufacturing suites, and warehouses. We work with 15 of the top 20 pharmaceutical companies globally. And over the years, all of them have placed multiple products with us.

 

How did we do it? We decided to focus solely on non-sterile liquids and semi-solid dosage forms, and everything else followed.

Buildings and equipment don’t define us.

CPL's Chief Executive Officer, Ken Paige

Ken Paige

Chief Executive Officer

Every CDMO has labs, manufacturing vessels, and packaging lines. What differentiates CPL is our culture and a sincere focus on staying true to our values.

Ken’s career with CPL began in 2000 as a member of the board of directors and in-house executive focusing primarily on corporate development and strategic planning.

 

Prior to his tenure at CPL, Ken held executive positions for more than 20 years in finance, manufacturing operations, marketing, and general management in private and public companies. Ken is a Chartered Accountant by profession, and has practiced public accounting with Price Waterhouse. He holds a Certified Director designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.

CPL's Vice President, Business Development, Jan Sahai

Jan Sahai

Vice President, Business Development

When a current or potential customer is looking for a CDMO in our space, I want CPL to be the first and only name that comes to mind.

Jan joined CPL in 2005. His mission is ensuring that every time a customer interacts with CPL, they have an outstanding experience. His primary role is to act as the interface between CPL and our customers to make sure the needs of both parties are satisfied.

 

Jan holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science, a post-doctorate research fellowship from the Medical College of Virginia, and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Western Ontario.

CPL's Vice President, Operations, Erika De Rango

Vice President, Operations

My team and I are focused on one thing: Get it right the first time, on time, every time. And we have the people and equipment to ensure that we meet that objective.

Erika has been with CPL for more than 20 years. She joined the company as our first GMP specialist in quality assurance. Within QA, Erika led validation and compliance prior to overseeing site compliance as director of quality systems.

 

Erika has been instrumental in modernizing our facility with state-of-the-art manufacturing vessels and new tube- and bottle-filling lines. She also led a significant internal transition centered on reshaping our manufacturing philosophy to focus on shortening timelines and reducing waste.

 

Erika holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Toronto and attended the Executive Leadership Program at Queens University.

CPL's Vice President, Finance, John Wilkening

John Wilkening

Vice President, Finance

At CPL, I believe there is more to the business than just revenue and profits. We focus on creating and building value for our customers by ensuring the company’s strategy, resources and culture all align to that mission.

John joined CPL in 2019 to lead CPL’s Finance team.  He has more than 25 years of experience leading finance, accounting, operations and IT teams in the US and Canada.

Prior to Joining CPL, John held executive roles with Red Bull and Clearly Canadian as well as various management roles in public accounting and consulting.  He is a Certified Public Accountant with a Bachelor of Science degree from Trinity Christian College.

CPL's Vice President, Human Resources, Shannon Meijer

Shannon Meijer

Shannon joined CPL in 2020 to lead the Human Resources team. She has more than 24 years of experience leading HR teams in the pharmaceutical and Medical Technology/Device industries.

 

Prior to joining CPL, Shannon held HR leadership roles with CONMED Canada and GlaxoSmithKline. Shannon holds a Bachelors degree in Labour Studies from McMaster University and is a Certified Human Resources Leader and member in good standing with the Human Resources Professional Association.

CPL's Vice President, Quality, Colin Watson

Colin Watson

Vice President, Quality

At CPL we are committed to total quality assurance. That means quality facilities, people, processes, and products.

Colin joined CPL in 2015. His mission at CPL is to ensure quality oversight and compliance in all GMP-related efforts, and he plays a lead role in planning and implementing CPL’s strategic initiatives. He oversees all Quality Assurance and Control functions in the company, and he has made our focus on quality pervasive throughout the company.

 

Colin came to CPL with more than 25 years of progressive experience in branded and generic pharmaceuticals. He holds a Bachelor of Administrative Studies degree from York University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Waterloo.
