June 13, 2023 – Mississauga, Ontario. CPL, a leading contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) of non-sterile liquid and topical drug products, is thrilled to welcome Lucy Zhao as the Manager of the Skin Lab within our Product Development Services team.
With a career spanning over 15 years, Lucy brings an impressive track record of success and expertise in assisting customers in developing new topical product formulation and development projects. Prior to joining CPL, Lucy served as a Senior Research Chemist and a Lab Supervisor at Diteba Laboratories, Inc. where she worked with a wide variety of topical formulations in conducting many skin testing studies for NDA, ANDA and 505 (b)2 projects.
Lucy’s expertise includes in vitro studies to characterize human skin permeation, penetration, depth profiling, and absorption of active drug moieties, all of which are crucial for supporting formulation development and optimization. She has also been actively engaged in FDA bioequivalence/bioavailability evaluations. Furthermore, she has extensive experience in development and validation of In Vitro Release Testing (IVRT) and In Vitro Permeation Testing (IVPT) methodologies, ensuring compliance with FDA/EMA Guidance for topical formulations, including creams, lotions, gels, foams, and ointments.
In addition to her technical proficiency, Lucy Zhao has excelled in collaborating with clients on topical product development, formulation development, generic product submissions, scale-up processes, and post-approval changes. Her expertise includes the utilization of the vertical Franz Diffusion Cell system, in accordance with SUPAC-SS, NDA, and ANDA submissions.
